Homer Simpson cartoon is a fictitious character and one of the two major characters of the American animation series The Simpsons.
It was performed by Dan Castellaneta and originally debuted on April 19, 1987. Illustrator Matt Groening developed and drew the cartoon Homer while sitting in the foyer of filmmaker James L. Brooks’s office.
Groening was approached to propose a series of short films centered on his cartoon series Life in Hell initially. But he chose to develop a new cast of characters known as The Simpsons.
He called the figure Homer Simpson after his dad. After three seasons on The Tracey Ullman Show, The Simpsons earned their own Fox show. The show premiered on December 17, 1989, and gained massive success after that.
